Here in ND, Ash is most plentiful over Oak, but those are our two best hardwoods we have, so I hang on to the really good stuff I find for all my BBQ and Smoking needs, I love the stuff!
Is that dimension lumber or slab wood? Either way looks like you will be busy using a chain saw for awhile. I use a lot of red and white oak along with apple wood. Oak works for everything. It burns hot and long and a nice mellow smoke flavor. Really a joy to use for smoking. Nice score!
