Hi everyone,

I'm a proud, recently new owner of a OK Joe Longhorn combo. My wife isn't into using charcoal for cooking, but I've always used a Weber kettle. We decided to "compromise" and get a combo unit, so we have gas for quick burgers & hotdogs, with the option to smoke larger roasts etc.

I'll be the first to admit though, I know basically nothing about smoking other than you're trying to generate some smoke! I'm sure I can find some good stickies and general information here, so I'm going to be poking around. We have a huge outdoor area and looking forward to having some family gatherings with some brisket or other fun meats, but have some learning curve ahead of me it looks like.

Welcome and congratulations on the new smoker.

Enjoy it.

Welcome, Mack. You've come to the right place to learn!! Don't be afraid to ask questions as the folk here are mighty friendly and always willing to share what they know or their opinions. I've never met a nice group of people in an on line forum as here. Don't forget to use the search feature.....lots of information there.

By the way, I love your backyard set up.

Yes, I've been doing lots of searching trying to learn some stuff, so far I haven't needed to ask a question, but I'm sure I'll find some.

Welcome aboard. Looks like you have the right cooking space and some nice tools to take care of your grilling/smoking needs. You will find a ton of info here if you look around or just hang around for a bit and observe. I look forward to seeing your Q views in the future.
