Newbie from Oklahoma....learning how and about to start a build

Hello everyone,

I am Jared from Norman OK. I have been a floater on here for awhile and just recently joined. I have recently bought a 250 gal propane tank, some steel, trailer axle, and a welder. I havent ever welded a day in my life but have a love of building things with my hands. I look forward to learning and am excited to start my build. I was also given a smaller 100 gal propane tank and have decided I am going to do a rear facing firebox design to maximize the square inches of cooking space inside the tank. I have a one year old little boy and his birthday and mine are about a week apart and the next party is April 2014. I have a desire to build it by our next birthday party and have a pig roast.... We will see how it goes. I have very little down time (lucky to get a few hours a week) due to little man and my wife is still in school. I will be posting pictures in a new thread and will appreciate any ideas, thoughts, concerns...etc. I am eager to learn, build, and enjoy smoking meats as I am an avid hunter and mostly bring home deer and turkey as they are the most abundant where I am. Anyway long intro but just wanted to let yall see where I was at and what I had planned.

Welcome to the forums, Jared, from another Oklahoman! Glad you joined us. You've found a great place to learn and share ideas on our favorite pastime...Smoking and Grilling great food! Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another. Good luck with that build project, and just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty.

Hey thanks guys. I did read the rules before I posted. Got a PM the day i joined from admin I believe and it asked me to read them so I did. I don't have any problem with that. I started some small cuts on the propane tank today. I will post some pics in the build section later

Cant wait to see!  There are some great smokers the guys are working on thru there!  Glad you are here with us!
