Hi guys
So this is what I'm working with and want some inputs for it

It's from when my grandpa started to build a stove of some sorts

Cook chamber
21x16¼x20¼

Firebox
7x16¼x20¼
With the fire box there's 2 steel cylinders that run down with holes in them for air

For air intake I have the adjustable pipes coming in but would also make the rectangle at the bottom a sliding door

For baffle plates would I use 1 that covers the whole size minus 1" at the back only or that plus another one 2" above that and it covers front to back with 1" open on both sides?

For a chimney I have 2.5" and 4" pipe to work with and reading up I think it only needs to be about 5" high

For racks I was going to do 2" above either baffle plate then space them 5" apart and that gives me 3 racks.

I will need to attach a door and from the cut out of the door weld it to the other side to cover the hole there.

For the top any ideas?

Thabks in advance

Let's see...

I'm assuming this is going to be charcoal fired with the charcoal in a basket ?? If so, Is this basket going to be sitting on the two pipes ? How high are these pipes from the floor ?? Reason I'm asking as that looks like some wasted space underneath the pipes if they sit to high ...

For a heat difuser... I have a peice of 1/8" metal cut so that it has 2" of space around the perimeter of the smoker... Then I have 3/8" holes drilled on a 3" square graph laid out on the sheetmetal... Holes drill on the corners of the 3" squares... It sits on legs that hold it about 4"s or so above the heat... For clarification this is in an electric smokehouse though... But would still work the same in a charcoal fired box ...

For my use I would make the top removable as I make snack sticks and sausage... This will let me load sticks and sausage onto dowel rods and be able to just lower the loaded rod down into it...

For the front door... I would cut the bottom out like you have it marked... Leaving the same width across the bottom as to what the sides (where opening is now) are now... Looks to be around 2"s or so.... Make the door 3" larger than the opening which will leave 1 1/2" overlap all the way around where a seal can be installed...

Others will have opinions/options/thoughts as well...

Thanks for the answer

I was thinking of doing the charcoal under the pipes. They can be removed if necessary but was going to rest a baffle plate just above them because there's already something there to attach them to.

Thanks in the plate. I was wondering on that but seems I'm going in the right direction

I like your idea for the top with the dowel

Once I get started I'll post some pics
