looking at buying a new smoker. I currently have a pellet that i really like but i like something that i can hang deer bologna and sausages and such. also something that could maybe do more meat than my small pellet can. I was thinking something industrial over one bought at walmart but don't wanna spend 1000.00 anyone have any recommendations.

Can't go wrong with a Weber Smokey Mountain (WSM). You can do all sorts of things with them and they are very compact and easy to use. What style are you looking for? Do you want to have something that you can use with minimal tending or are you looking for something that will require regular monitoring?

You can make a DIY 55 gal drum smoker for under $100

I think Big Poppa 55 gal drum smokers run around $300

You can buy a competition grade Hunsaker 55 gal drum smoker for about $800

The smoker is 22" around like a standard Weber kettle

Hope this helps some....

i actually started with a wsm and then went pellet. I looking for more of an electric cabinet type smoker. something like a masterbuilt but better quality

Take a look at Smokin Tex or Smokin-It.

The Smokin Tex 1460 is 5 bucks under your limit but I am not sure about shipping. You would need to call them.

If you want to stick with electric and pellets, then take a look at Pit Boss series 5 and 7.

I would have recommended the Smoke Hollow Smoke Tronix. However, after Masterbuilt bought them out the line was discontinued.

Any construction ability ? Would be very easy to build one similar to this with just wood. This is 3'x3'x8' ( wouldn't need quite that tall ).

I use this burner under plate in smoker. Burn soaked dust on top of plate.
Use mostly when we do deer sausage, summer and ring. Can hang about 100# at a time. A few vent holes in bottom, and 1 each side near top. Works great.
Might be overkill for what your looking for.
