UPDATE: Just getting the firebox fabricated, should be done in a week or so. I really wish I knew how to weld, could save a bit of cash!!!! I'm ready to get on this thing!!

UPDATE: So the fabrication of my firebox is not happening, the fabricator is dragging his feet and I feel like I have waited long enough. i mean its been almost 5 months.

I do not have the skills or equipment to fabricate the box myself and this seems like the best option for me, I just dont want to screw myself in the long run. This is going to be a nice rig!!!!

So, I'm looking to go a different route,  I am thinking of just using a cast iron wood stove for my firebox, A guy I know has a side feed wood stove he will sell me pretty cheap. I understand that I will have to make some mods to the stove which shouldn't be a problem.

The internal dimensions are 27.5 L x 15.5 W x 19.5 H. With a CC of 36 x 60 is this size differential going to make a huge difference for me?

Any input will be appreciated!!

Sounds really undersized to me. I would be afraid you might have to really have a raging fire to keep up to temp. Might could mitigate this some by insulating the firebox.

Put an ad on Craigslist or post on Face Book asking for someone that does fabrication on the side. I'm sure you'll find someone.

Weedeater, I know it does, and I probably already knew that. I guess I was hoping someone would say that it should be ok! lol

I wonder what an oversized firebox would do, what problems it would bring up?

Fred, that's a good idea that I didn't think of may check into that.

I started prepping my tank for the CC. While I was sanding I noticed that the tank has a pretty significant amount of pitting. I don't know if you can tell by the pics but should I be concerned about it? Should I look for a new tank?

Unless your trying to get in the smoker building business I wouldn't be concerned. If you plan to show it off to your friends as something that you built with limited budget,(like myself) I think it adds character. I only care that it performs the way I hope it will when I get to that point.
