i just ordered my first ever pellet smoker, Grilla Silverbac Alpha... woot woot! Any suggestions on a first cook to impress the family? I’m so excited to get going on this.

Congrats on the new grill.

When you say “family” is this just the people in the house, or are we talking in-laws, siblings and such?

Whatever you decide on as a “first cook” though, I’d do a trial cook on any grill first before cooking for friends and/or family unless it’s just the folks already in the house.

If for no other reason than to learn my way around a bit.

I never try a new cooker or a new recipe for the first time on guest. I always give both a trial run on my own palate first.

Where you at? I like Tri tip if it’s in your region as it’s relatively quick and very easy to prepare....

I would do a high heat "burn in" to get rid of any chemicals that might be left over from manufacturing. I'd then do chicken to get a feel of how it runs before putting more expensive meats on there.

I also like the fireboard or another ambient probe to put by the meat and find out what my cook temp is in that particular area of the grill.

You could even go as simple as burgers or chicken breast on the grill as others have said, just find whatever meat you have in the fridge and throw it on! I just couldn't wait to see how the thing worked.

Ultimately I would suggest some chicken wings... those come out unreal on a pellet grill.

Props on the new grill! Whatever you cook just make sure to clean out the burn pot before you use it! I had issues with mine overheating and burning up the auger and smoke coming out of the pellets in the hopper.
