At Home Depot yester4day I noticed a new MES 30 with a control to adjust the temp and a new price of $179. The I found this at Amazon and it looks better for $10 more.
This one has a digital control and a wood chip tray that slides in and out without opening the door. Any coments?
I just bought and received the unit your linking from Amazon, I am very pleased. I took a look at the one from Home Depot, analog temp control. In my opinion you will be more pleased with the digital temp control, much less effort(?) to control your cooking temps.
If you monitor that smoker on Amazon, it is very possible the price may go down. Over the past two weeks it has ranged from $145 to $189. After I placed the order on said smoker, it was delivered within 3 or 4 days.
The masterbuilt MES (Masterbuilt Electric Smokehouse "digital") 30 vs the masterbuilt analog smoker, can both smoke meat. With the addition of a Maverick 732 dual probe, and AMNPS smoke accessory both can do a better jop making the chores easier for the pit boss. However is a digital controller better than a rheostat controller. Most will tell you "YES", if you don't have the Maverick you will have to monitor the cooking temp during the first few hours of a smoke closely with a rheostat, the digital is automatic (sensing temp differences and adjusting). If you can get the MES30 at a price close to the analog, buy the digital.
