Hi Larry!

to SMF!!! We're happy you found us! You've come to the right place, we have over 45,000 members who just love to share their experience and over 900,000 posts describing it! The search bar at the top can be your best friend when you are trying to find answers to your questions but you can still ask too if you want!

Would you do us a favor and add your location to your profile, it helps others to know where you are when they offer advice, Thanks!

You might want to check out Jeff's Free 5 day E-Course, it will teach you all the basics plus a whole lot more!

I'm thinking you probably don't want to be tending a stick burner all day long or feeding charcoal to it on a long brisket smoke so an MES 30 might be good for you. It is kind of set it and forget it, it's not too big and is very versatile and you can get one for under $200.

Another option might be a vertical propane smoker, there are many different models under $200 and they are basically the same but don't know if you want to fool with getting a propane bottle filled.

That's just my opinion Larry, you might want to post your question over in the "General Discussions" forum and give it a good title like "Need help choosing a smoker" or something that will catch peoples attention. Then give a lot of detail about what you want to smoke, how often, how much and any limitations you might have. I think you will get a lot more response than you will here in Roll Call, not a lot of people come looking around Roll Call.

I hope that helps Larry and Good Luck finding the best smoker for you, I'm sure you will!
