New guy from MN / Western WI

Hey there, just came across your site while researching the smoking of peppercorns, and had to sign up after seeing all the info here. I'm located right on the border of MN/WI, on the WI side.

I currently use a Masterbuilt Electric Digital Smoker, the non-glass front, and insulated.  Love it thus far.  This weekend I began the process of smoking some sea salt that I am going to hand out at Christmas for gifts.

Look forward to diving in to all the info here, and plan on building myself one of the cardboard box cold smokers this week as well to smoke some cheese.

Hello and welcome to SMF! Smoked sea salt is a winner and pretty easy to do. Nice idea for gifts 

I have an MES40 and use it to cold smoke cheese etc. When paired with the AMNPS (http://www.amazenproducts.com/), the MES makes a great cold smoker. I've also used the tin can and soldering iron to cold smoke.

Welcome! As a Minnesotan, I must say you HAVE TO BUY a AMNPS. Also, do you root for the Packers or the Vikings? It makes all the difference. (GO VIKINGS!)

Yeah, been looking at those, and seen a thread about constructing a box from a mailbox or tool box, looks interesting.
