I have not had the chance to break my new smoker in yet b/c of the weather. So this friday I plan on doing it but I have a problem I have so much am wanting to smoke I don't know what to smoke. It is just going to be me and the wife. So I have thought about a meatloaf or some ribs or a pork loin. What do you all suggest.

A spare or baby back rib is one of the classic, yet simple smokes that is easy to do and produces the kind of results that make you a hero with whomever you're dining with!

fatty or loin are great starters

A whole chicken and a handful of ABT's ... simple and fun and REALLY GOOD for that first smoke ~

I vote ribs, too. 3-2-1 for spares or 2-2-1 for baby backs. It's the easiest, fastest, and most rewarding dish for a first smoke. Just find a good dry rub to let them sit in overnight, and don't forget to take off the membrane.

I would do a mix of things...

ABTs are fun and don't take long
Fatties are relatively simple but take a little longer
Hamburgers
Chickens, etc...

Keep it on the cheap for the new smoker until you get used to it.

My first was a mix of chicken leg quarters for dinner that night, and a pork butt (shoulder) to pull and vacuum pack for meals during the week. That allowed me to show my wife that we could use the vacuum packed stuff for all sorts of stuff and didn't have to cook only what we were going to eat that night.
