Picked this up at the parish auction a couple weeks ago. It's all aluminum with 1.5" insultated walls. 5'6".
Welded up some racks.
I robbed the ceramic side/sear burner and valve from my masterforge natural gas grill and piped it in with glavenized pipe.
Added electronic ignitor. Decided to go low-tech on the chip pan.
I've fired this thing on high for 30 minutes and got it up to 275 and climbing (ambient temp was about 70). Then went to low and my temp dropped to about 245. I've got a couple of valves upstream of the control valve to drop it lower if I need to. Any suggestions on the wood chip pan? I'm pretty sure it's going to work and I've made TBS for about a half hour on a test run before I shut it off. Please give me some input/suggestions. I'm a complete newb at smoking but I'm handy and diligent. My 3 year old is having a birthday party in a couple of weeks and I would like to serve some pulled pork. If I've missed something let me know.
