Hey all, been a few weeks since I finished it up but here is my new Mini WSM!  After the first post I saw on one of the builds I knew I had to make one for our tailgate and was lucky to have a Smokey Joe sitting around.  I got the IMUSA pot from Wally World for 25 bucks, hardware from the Depot, Grates from amazon, and the paint at the Auto Parts Store.

Seasoned it and made a batch of whole chickens to test it out.  I was very happy with the control of the heat using the bottom cutout wrapped in foil for the diffuser and a alumn pie pan as a water pan.

I also plan on adding an ash cleaner to help with the airflow and buildup in the bottom.  Will take some picks of the inside and the ash cleaner when I finish it up.

Nice looking mini. I have been thinking about building another one and wanted to paint the whole thing but wasn't sure if it would work on the smokey joe (I don't know anything about paint). Yours looks great so I guess it works. Birds look great too!

Thanks for the compliments all!

The paint did work out, however the bottom didnt hold up as well as I would like after the first two smokes.  Alot of the paint on the bottom has burned off and/or turned black.  But since its a dark blue and mainly on the bottom it doesnt look bad.  I used the Dupli Color Engine Enamel paint rated for 550 degrees and in hindsight should have gone with a higher temp range atleast for the bottom.

To clarify I brined the birds using the slaughterhouse brine and rubbed with snake bitten chicken rub both discovered here a SMF, smoked for about 4 hours at 250 and man they turned out great!
