I just bought a plain jane Tel-Tru, not one of the ones on their "bbq thermometers" page.  It's a back connection, 5" dial with a 6" stem.  The McMaster Carr part number is 3949K17.  Paid $52.76 about 18 months ago.  I love the 5" dial.  I can see the temp without having to be right up on the smoker.
