I finished up my FB door handle. I’m still not sure if I like the elk antler handles but since I’m so ready to be done with the smoker, they will have to stay for now. All I have left is a little grinder touch ups and paint.
Finally got my smoker back from the sand blaster after a month and a half. Ridiculous.
They did a good job but the blasting uncovered a lot of my imperfections in welding. There quite a few holes. I’ll post a few pics of them. I don’t want to fill them in with welds as it will splatter the newly blasted areas. I wonder if I can get away with hiding them with paint?
I purchased my casters from Harbor freight that were rated at 400lbs. That was a mistake. They’re bending so I went and dropped some more money at a caster place on some heavy duty casters.
Good to see this so very close to being done :) I'm obviously not a pro or very experienced...but if you're really concerned about the holes/pitting...I'd mix up some JB Weld and fill them...let it cure...then sand down flush. Paint will definitely hide the rest.
As for the casters...I wouldn't over think it. I'd get a buddy and some blocks of wood that are high enough. Heft one end of the smoker in the air and slide the blocks in. Swap the wheels. Rinse/repeat on the other end :)

I didn’t even realize that I had not posted the finished pictures of my smoker. I finally finished it up and it works great. I kind F messed up the paint though. I went with flat black at first but thought I needed a semi gloss so I cane the door a coat of semi gloss. Then I realized I didn’t like it so I scuffed it up and gave it another coat with the flat. Well at least I thought I grabbed flat but instead I kept grabbing beers and when I got around to the paint I accidentally gave it another coat of gloss. What a idiot. But it doesn’t look to bad though.
I seasoned it up last weekend for about 4 hours and it worked great. Barely used wood and held temps like a champ. That thick steel really helped in that area. I hope to actually get some meat on it this weekend so if I do I’ll post more pictures.
This small fire is all it took to keep it at around 275 degrees. It was smoking TBS at time and other times I couldn’t see the smoke at all. I love this thing.
