Well after some test runs and different trials I finally got my smoker up and going. I tried a commercial two burner electric hot plate, that just quit after 2 hours! Not sure if it was defective or what.It got the temp up until it quit working. I tried the electric element burner and just set my wood chip pan directly on it, It would only come up to about 150 degrees. Sooo, with a few fittings and a new regulator and hose I put in a propane burner. Works good, Temp was about 190 on the lowest setting, I can still use my cheapo Walmart hotplate for cold smoking cheese and stuff!! We did bacon stuffed cheeseburgers on mesquite wood chunks for 2 hour smoke then finished off on the BBQ!! Delicious

Any chance you'll replace the double burner and try that again or just going to stick with the propane?

Sorry for the delayed response, I think I will run the propane for awhile. I think the hot plate gets to hot for the internal stuff on the hot plate. It had plenty of free air space around it but not sure if it wa enough.
