I have a mosquito magnate device. It uses a 20 lb propane tank and uses 2 attractants. It sends out a plume of Co2 with the attractants smells and then the mosquito's fly to it thinking they have a great meal awaiting, however. The magnate vacuums them up and the go into a net and are dehydrated.

Go to their website and check it out. I have 2 (1 inherited) and they work fine. There are several versions for different applications. Somewhat pricey but they work..

Several years ago a Coast Guard station in the caribean was going to cease operations due the insects. Mosquito Magnates were used and they collect several miilion squito's. It worked so well they kept the site open!! This also interrupts the breeding cycle. We will have mosquitos in plenty for about 20- 30 days in the spring after we start the device up after that, they are virtually no problem. storms bring in transients and they are collected in a fairly fast manner

Again, check the web site and see what you think. They do have stand alone styles. The newest will monitor the outside temp. and slow down its operation during cold weather when squito's don't normally fly. I grew up in Wisconsin near rivers and "sloughs" I swear we had squito's in the middle of winter. This mosquito magnate machine works just fine for myself and three neighbors.

The Charleston island communities (Daniel, Folly etc..) have several companies the perform maintanance on their machines, IE, replace the propane can, attractants, clean or replace the nets etc.. Fairly good business for them due to Charleston's history of rice growing and all the swamps here.

I got some also and sprayed it two days ago. I have not been in the back yard much since then so I'm not sure how it's working. But I will tell you it smells very strong heh.

My yard is small, and I live close to the city, but these blood suckers are bad this year.
