I want to smoke a whole chicken and a brisket at the same time in my MES 40"-any suggestions?My brisket has been trimmed,rubbed and sitting in the fridge for the last 48hrs-I'm getting ready to brine my bird now.I'm really green with the electric smoker-I've done a lot with stick smokers-but the electric smoker makes me a bit nervous!!!

Any pointers would be great:usa:
 
Smoke n fire, Howdy. Glad to have you here . I am a Stick burner  too and dabbling into the Watt burner world. I see no reason you could not do them together , other than make sure the Beef is on top ... in  fact , Poultry is always on bottom

As for my 2cents worth , IMHO , you can cook them both at 275*F and get by easy . No need to get nervous , this is gonna be easier than you  think , set and drink, check and drink , check and goto the potty . Check and drink... may repeat as necessary.

Depending on the size, brisket is going to take much longer. If you want them done at the same time adjust when you put chicken in acordingly. Be mindful when a chicken is done it's done. Brisket will get better longer it's in but not poultry.
 
The bird turned out awesome.I think the brisket was overcooked-couldn't slice it-it just fell apart.So I will adjust a few things for my next brisket.
