Should be able to plug an Auber plug and play controller right into it with no rewire . Just set the factory control to the highest setting . Not insulated , but be nice to have at that price .

I don't think I've heard a lot of complaints from owners of these units.
However if you plan on using an AMNPS (Amazing smoker), you'll more than likely have to drill a few holes near the bottom to give it some air flow.

Hmm this is tempting. I think I’d just use it for an easy smoke alternative to my Weber. I did notice the chip tray you have to open the door to fill so I probably would use my AMNPS but I don’t think I’d feel bad drilling into it

If you do get it, check with Dave Omak to see size & location of holes needed. All I remember is they have to be low. Dave might have actual locations for the holes.

The price is about right. Masterbuilt currently has it on their site for $129 plus a ( I think it was 30% ) discount.
As with most Masterbuilts it could benefit from a few Mods. My first concern with the analogs is the exhaust vent. Just a small 1/2 - 3/4 inch port on the back. I would want to install a larger, more traditional wagon wheel or other vent. Then maybe a mailbox mod and cut the dependency on the in-box chip tray and the issues that come with it.
Adding a PID can easily be done at anytime if you eventually decide to do so, but what ever you do, DO NOT trust that door therm. They are notoriously incorrect and un-reliable. Get a remote therm. (Inkbird has a heck of a deal going right now for the budget minded)

Based on the price info I mentioned before, I wouldn't be concerned with it being a scam of some sort. The price is a good price but not a To-Good-To-Be-True price. Plus to be listed on Wally Worlds site, I'm betting they have been pretty well vetted.
