I got a cheap Lowe's charcoal smoker and one of the Amazen pellet trays. Works great for cold smoking but the pellets either burn up or keep going out when i try to hot smoke with it. So after seeing it on here, i made a mailbox mod to put the pellet tray in to separate the pellets and charcoal. Did a quick test run last night and it worked really well. fired it up today with a pork rib roast and so far so good. I spent maybe $25 on all the parts. I tried to locate the tube on the smoker so the heat from the charcoal would rise past the vent, thus sucking the smoke from the mailbox. Here are some pics....

Mailbox, and a couple of 3" angled twisty tube vent things i found at Lowe's...

Seems legit

All rigged up.

In action.

In action with some meat starting

The look on my wife's face was priceless when I came home with a mailbox and tubes and found me in the backyard hooking a mailbox up to my "barbacue"....

Looks great.  Women don't understand just like we don't understand why they need so many purses or shoes.
