Morning everyone. I've got a old hand grinder from my Father. Still works fine but not very often. So, the treads get dirty, corrode, etc. Local shop has Lubriplate to coat all the parts, treads, etc. It's $27 for 16 ozs. I was thinking Vaseline is a lot cheaper. Non toxic, lubes all the the areas I would need it for, stops oxygen to cause corrosion., etc.

Any input, yeh or nah would be appreciated. Bottom line will it work to prevent dirt, rust, corrosion and when I wash parts clean them, use it and not die.

Thanks in advance. Be safe.

I use vegetable shortening, not oil but just regular shortening. It doesn’t go bad wont leave a sticky film and is obviously food safe.
