I decided to smoke some stew meat for some stew tomorrow. Put some seasoning on the cubes and put them in a wire mesh basket and put it in my MES 40. Hooked up the Auber Instruments Controller to run the smoker. And once it got to temp (the one blip is where I opened the door for a bout 10 seconds) it held it right at 225° the entire smoke.

Very awesome for you. Which Auber do you have? I use their WS-1510ELPM controller on my MES40.
I have the Model: WSD-1500H-W, its wifi so I can control it from my iPhone anyplace I have cell service.

I have been SO happy with my Auber PID on my Bradley. That thing has made my life so much easier!!!

what PID are you using?

I have one of the original Smokin' It model 2 with an analog controller. I've been thinking of switching to a PID controller. When I look at the options available for controllers it makes my head swim. Has anyone done this? Any controller recommendations?

Any of the WSD models should work. Dual probes are a must for me and I wanted to be able to control it over my iPhone so I went with the WSD-15000H-W

Hi there and welcome!

Oh yeah living the PID life!!!

I love rocking a PID but my HeaterMeter is wearing out. The wifi no longer works and I think it's a PC board issue not the wifi dongles as I have 2 and no more wifi with either :(
Also I have never ending issues with crappy Chinese components I used in my controller build, and I'm too stubborn to throw the extra pieces out thinking maybe 1 of 5 wont melt down on me haha. I think the final crappy fuse holder is burning out on mine and I have a Bussman fuse holder (US made, seems like real quality) to replace the Chinese fuse holders.

If my HeaterMeter controller dies I think I'm going to buy an Auber Wifi version and not worry about building anymore. For now as long as my HeaterMeter is running, it's good to go and controlling my smoker like a champ!!

I'll continue living the PID life, producing amazing smoked food, holding temps steady, and sleeping through overnight smokes :)
