Hi Melissa, glad you joined us, and welcome from Iowa!Hi! Just visiting my 82 year-old longtime friend, she pulled out a 25-year-old electric upright smoker, I plugged it in it works…It’s a “Smoke House”… and I have questions.View attachment 735185
Hi Ryan, hello from Saskatchewan! I am curious about this electric smoker… first off could I smoke something that would be delicious, I’ve been around friends with pellet grills and smokers…
There are no markings other than Smoke House, it is a front opening one and it has a coil burner in the bottom. Its about two feet high and the racks are 14"x16". It is made in China so is it maybe a knock off?Is this it:

Big Chief or Little Chief? Either way, there are people on SMF that use them and can help you.
thanks for that tip...I have a thermometer and can check it...could we possibly make something tonight?, we have shrimp...?Welcome from ND
I would suggest getting a digital thermometer' hang in center of smoker and set your temp on the medium setting and let it go for about 45-60 mins to see what type of temps you are getting and go from there. Yes you should be able to make some delicious food in that unit.
Uh I say a hard no until you take the tips from above to get it cleaned out and the figure out the temps it can hold at various settings on the dial reading.thanks for that tip...I have a thermometer and can check it...could we possibly make something tonight?, we have shrimp...?
Thank you for the kind words. I have been using the Little Chief and a Big Chief box smokers since the '70s. Mine still have the Luhr Jenson (the fishing lure company) branding. And all replacement parts are still available.I have a Smoke House Big Chief and it does not have temperature control dial.

Hey Melissa, late to chime in here.... Most of the electric box smokers with the hot-plate heat source are more of a "flavor smoker", meaning you need a secondary heat source to arrive at a proper final temperature. So, for example... flavor smoke some ribs for 2-hours, then finish them on a grill or in your oven.I am curious about this electric smoker… first off could I smoke something that would be delicious, I’ve been around friends with pellet grills and smokers…
