Lava Lock Gasket Size Reccomendation?

Hey I wanted to see would be a good way to determine size for gasket I should buy to seal my two cooking chamber doors? I see it leaking and know i need a gasket just unsure how to determine thickness needed without making the gap worse.

Wad up aluminum foil and put it in the gap... close the lid and measure the thickness of the crushed aluminum... You can use high temp silicone to stick it ... OR... use big head pop rivets to secure it...
