I haven't used my Lang 84 over concrete/asphalt yet. Does the firebox being so close to the ground cause any damage to concrete or asphalt?

Not sure bout your Lang, BUT I took the legs off my Brinkman ( and put two 1 inch blocks to keep it off the drip pan) and I have had no problems , can't be much different

It will be fine over concrete. Over asphalt it may soften it a bit but it won't damage it.
