Just a heads up, but starting tomorrow, 9/1, Krogers here in South Carolina are going to have whole brisket for $2.99/lb and half NY Strips for $6.99/lb., both USDA choice. Check your local Krogers if you have them...

Also, USDA Choice ribeye steaks will be on sale at Food Lion starting tomorrow, 9/1, for $7.99/lb. This is about the only thing that they still cut to order at Food Lion...

That's some pretty good prices for today's market, unfortunately no Kroger's around me.

I'm doing my weekly shopping tomorrow and will check it out, but I haven't had much luck with Kroger's advertised specials.
Mostly they are out or never had them in the first place.....
Kroger is out of the way for me, but I will make the trek for a good deal. Often I've had the same experiences as you with their inventory, but I will get a raincheck and then I can get it at my convenience. Their rainchecks are usually good for 30 days...

Dallas TX area,

Kroger has digital/app deal limit 2 choice briskets whole packers$1.67/lb
Tom Thumb/Albersons/Safeway has digital/app deal limit 1 choice brisket whole packers $1.97/lb

Choice Ribeye's are like $5.77/lb for family packs.

Gotta love those beef prices in Texas :D
Some great deals if you dont mind having the apps on your phone and using them :)

Oh, wow! That's a great price. Unfortunately we don't have Kroger around (SF Bay area) but have a Kroger's family supermarket Foods Co in relatively close proximity. Foods Co runs it's own sale and it's differ from Kroger...

Man we are lucky. I got to stop buying. Keep thinking this may be the end so buy more. I bought 4 packs of those froze mussels and took all trhee freezers to store them! I bought more Hatch Peppers. Going to try to dry without roasting this time.

Around here Kroger is called Fry's Market. All I see at a decent price is bone-in ribeye steaks for $4.97lb, no deals on brisket. I might have to lump $4.38lb at Sam's, need to make a batch of Hipshot burgers. RAY

Hahaha I hear ya!

I have 30 pounds of select grade brisket in the freezer (rare to find select around here) and about 19 pounds of pork butt in the freezer. I don't have jack for freezer space to begin with and I'm sitting here thinking "how can I store 3 briskets with these good deals" hahaha.

My plan is to grind the select briskets but as you know I'm freakin swamped and still have no unplanned time and if it wasn't for overnight smokes I wouldn't be eating any BBQ at all. At least I can sleep while stuff smokes in my electric.

Maybe towards the end of September if I can get work off my back I can have some free time to grind and do other things like a lunch :D

I love the Krogers $1.99 a lb brisket special. Afraid the days of beef that cheap might be over though.

Just a heads up the last two pork butts I got from them at $.99 a lb were spoiled 5 days before the sell by date. I went to cube them up to grind for sausage one day and the whole house smelt like the septic tank overflowed soon as I popped the cryo. Wife wasn't too happy with me lol the garbage man probably wasn't either.

Just bought the last 2 briskets they had put out at Kroger. 31 pounds of it.
Didn't have a very good bend to them but oh well. I'll make'em work :D

But for $1.67/lb., I wouldn't have passed on them, either, and like you, I have no freezer space...

Hahaha, yeah they will cook no problem. They had a ton of fat which was promising. I've had way worse briskets to deal with. Hell may just grind em. We'll see in a couple of weeks :)

Krogers AKA:
  • Baker’s
  • City Market
  • Dillons
  • Food 4 Less
  • Foods Co
  • Fred Meyer
  • Fry’s
  • Gerbes
  • Harris Teeter
  • King Soopers
  • Jay C Food Store
  • Kroger
  • Pay-Less Super Markets
  • QFC
  • Ralphs
  • Smith’s Food and Drug
Theirs a Ralphs on 345 Williams Ave usually runs the Kroger specials.

I checked a Kroger closest to me on Wednesday and they actually had a few. $3.49 not $2.99.
They were all +/- 8.5# and looked like most of the point was cut off even though they said "whole brisket".
I passed...
I'll keep checking GFS.

Kroger has briskets on sale at 3.99 lb. WTF!!! thats getting ridiculous. what scares me more is - how high will they go.
