Haven't seen nor heard of it, but this was my first thought...I’ve seen on Reddit/grilling that folks say they do have a smell to them but they make no difference in taste. Many are calling it a gimmick.
I believe that people who grill/smoke a lot, or even some, won't be buying into the gimmick. I'm not buying it, either. A quick check shows that in addition to the Garlic Onion Paprika, they offer Cumin Chili and Basil Sage Thyme. Hard pass for me...I don't care what spices they use I ain't eating them and doubt they would add any flavor any other way![]()
I thought they were trying to entice me into eating the charcoal or pellets by seasoning them up![]()
It's for those that likes their meat well done! Kind of an improvement I'm sure...less chew, more crunch!Save money on meat. Just eat the charcoal instead.

LOL! It's got great bark.
I watched Tom's video and got turned off immediately by seeing all the white billowy smoke produced by the "flavor" briquettes. I'll pass on these.
Funny you mention that. I use both signature select from safeway and Kingsford wood flavored briquettes. I don't usually see much heavy smoke once it settles to temp....However I used mesquite one's last week and man it was really bad didn't taint the meat but was way heavier than my usual apple or cherry.
