Well, I will be going back to good oldfashioned 'oldschool' cooking... I did a REALLY bad thing yesterday. Trish surprizingly said little about the 'incident'.
I cooked a 15lb. Turkey on Flo . I couldn't find the camera (thank goodness) to shoot any shots of the whole thing , so as we say...no shots , didn't happen , but Q-view to come , as soon as I finish crying
.
The Turkey came out fine, but my Mavericks died...
. I cannot blame anyone but myself for doing such a "STUPID" thing.
I had started my logs in the FB and was waiting for them to go to embers when I went inside to get the Trukey. While inside the wind picked-up and (with the FB door cracked open to give more airflow and get the fire going better) , the wood caught a gust and roared to a hot-hot temp.
All would have been alright "IF" I hadn't have already set-up the Therms. on the work shelf at the front of my Smoker. I usually wait until all is ready to go (wood going well . and smoke light and blue ) then set the equip. in place...
I hadn't noticed what happened until I went out to set the Bird on the Grates. Backs of the sending units were melted and the recioevers were saying 'dash-dash-dash' on both the food and bbq readings...
I have no-one to blame for this but myself and my inattention to what was happening , a good lesson to "go by your tried and true routine" of doing things.
So, I'm back to using my wits and experience , and a pocket Therm.
....
Hope you have better luck and ...
