Hi all,

I just purchased my first smoker (Masterbuilt 30" electric) after finding a great deal online. I've been grilling for years but after having some home smoked chicken and ribs at a friend's place, I had to have one. This site is full of information and I'm itching to try everything.

One question ... What is an easy thing to start with? I don't want to make my first attempt a failure

Welcome aboard!  Glad you joined us.  You've found a great place to learn and share ideas.  Lots of friendly and knowledgeable folks here who really enjoy helping one another.  Just ask when you need help and you'll get plenty.

If you're looking for something easy, you might try a Boston Butt for pulled pork.  It's a long smoke, but it's pretty hard to mess up a butt as they are pretty forgiving cuts.  For shorter cooks, I like to do chicken pieces (wings, breasts, thighs, etc).  Good luck, don't hesitate to ask for advice if you need it, and Please Post Qview!
