What’s the cord for?

It's a lanyard, so you can hang it around your neck. Then disconnect to use.
Rather silly idea. They did that with the Smoke's too.
Remote has a rounded bottom with a hole in so you could add a lanyard.
I made some stand's for them out of wood. Eventually they started selling a plastic stand.
