jerky marinade

I am trying a new marinade recipe wich is thicker than the recipe I am used to marinating with. Should I rinse off meat before smoking/dehydrating , or leave it on ? I dont want to take the smoke flavor away from the meat, and I dont want to take away the marinade flavor either.

What TH said. The meat should have the marinade penetrated, so let the smoke do the rest.

I wouldn't rinse it either. I usually let it sit in a collindor a while and pat dry with paper towels!!!!!!!
