So I have been talking about this off and on for over a year. This time it’s real though. The time is finally right and my brand new copper colored Weber kettle is a reality. My wife has bought me this for Christmas. Being the fun and charming lady that she is, she has made a game of it and I am not allowed to use it until after Christmas.

Even though it is setting next to our tree I am supposed to “pretend it isn’t there” and move along. So, needless to say, I am excited to break that puppy in. Most likely on the 26th.

For those of you that already own a Weber kettle. Does it require the same kind of seasoning process to ready it for use? I’m referring to coating with vegetable oil and doing a burn in like a steel smoker?

I will have to see if she decided to get the vortex to go along with it. If that’s the case then kettle fried chicken is going to be the first thing on the menu. If not, then I will just have to figure something else out.

Sweet! Awesome wife my friend. I just did a quick burn in with my kettle. No need for the oil. If she got the Vortex as well, you'll be super happy. Best wing cooking setup on the planet.

Yup like said just burn the oils out of it . They are fantastic cookers . I have a 2007 Performer with all the bells and whistles that my late wife bought me for Fathers day that year . One of my most prized possessions . Get a set of baskets , cheap from big box store . About 15 bucks .
Enjoy . Good for her making you wait til after Christmas .
