Recently I had an ERR error message. I replaced the RTD and the error message is gone. However now my controller always reads 331 degrees even when I first turn it on! Has anyone else had this issue? Is my controller shot? I’m testing it out at various temperatures right now to see if my secondary analog thermometer shows that I’m actually getting close to the temperature on the dial but I’m worried that if the controller reads the wrong temperature the feed rate will be way off. I hope this is the right place to post this. I’m new to the forum and can’t find my issue anywhere or even know where to search. FYI it’s a very mild day in Houston TX so it’s not 300 degrees in my cold grill. Lol

This kind of happens to my SmokeDaddy PID controller sometimes. The temp reads way high (but not the ERR signal).
It is probably moisture in your temperature probe wires.
Try firing it up and let it get hot. It will likely heat up the wire and drive off any moisture.
The temp re-converges back to sane levels once that happens.
Do this with no food, in there, obviously.

I tried this but it still registers the same temperature. The grill got up to 450 or 500 and I let it run for a while and it stayed at 331 the whole time. Would this be the controller or the RTD. I can return the RTD but it seems like it’s gotta be something in the controller.

I'm not too familiar with this machine or the controller but I would guess its some sort of electrical issue with the controller or the probe.

Yeah, it's definitely something electrical.
The controller is much more expensive. I'd try first swapping out the probe and if that doesn't work, then you gotta look at the controller.
Sorry I can't be of more help.
