Just a quick question, is your smoker your main cooker? Or do you also own a grill to cook things like burgers or steaks? I am looking to purchase my 1st smoker, have always owned grills in the past. And the grill that I have right now, is just about rusted out, will not be buying that brand ever again! Thanks for the info. John

I use my mini alot, more than the oven and gas grill. Havent used my gasser in 2 years.

Steaks and burgers are great on the smoker. Can even do sides.

I have a Cookshack fast eddy PG500 that I replaced both a gas grill and smoker. It is probably the best grill I have ever owned, can cook a steak at 800+ degrees, chicken thighs indirect at 350-400 for nice bite through skin quickly or anything in between for grilling.

Drop it to the 225-250 range for pulled pork or brisket, with a set and forget easy, drop it to 170 for jerky. Use an ice tray and cold smoke some cheese in the warming drawer (or just use an Amazing tube smoker).

There are arguably better smokers depending on what you are looking for, but this is hands down the best grill I have had and it smokes great.

If you really want an all in one unit I don't think you can do much better.

I have a little chief, so no, my smoker is not my only cooker :). We have a Weber 22.5 kettle and my dad (we live right next door) has a propane grill. I am in process of building an UDS soon which is by far more versatile than the little chief , but I would probably still have more than just the uds. Love, seriously love, cooking over live fire. Something about it makes me happy inside. However the gas grill is great for quick suppers and its big so we can put out a lot of food. The little chief is fantastic for what we use it for and the uds is gonna be a lot of fun too!

I've got a WSM 18.5 and a 22.5 Kettle, and see no need for anything else!   I've gone through 160 lbs of KBB since Memorial day!  I love cooking outside and not adding additional heat in the house.

I have a 22.5 performer which I use the most and a WSM 22.5 for smoking. The performer is easier to use for quick week day meals, like steak and burger. Use the smoker for ribs, and butts...

I still use my grill but try to use the smoker most of the time.  The last two cooks I did were on the grill.  One was chicken that we decided at the last minute to cook and eat within the hour.  The other was the wife came home with some hamburger and was wanting to eat soon.  By the time I can get my AMNPS lit, I can have the burgers grilled and setting on the counter.  But yes, my smoker is my main cooker...if the food is planed out.

I have a 40" MES and it is my main cooker. The only thing I use my gas grill for anymore is to reverse sear things.

My lineup is shown below.  The 18.5" Kettle is almost three decades old and hasn't been used in a while.  It is a future smoker project waiting to happen.  The 22.5" gets exercised regularly both as a grill and fast smoker.  Wood is always added to the fire these days in the Kettle.  The WSM gets used once or twice a weekend.  The gasser has been relegated to charcoal starter, an occasional reverse sear, and cat perch.

I like to smoke a lot of meat on my WSM 22 on the weekends and i use my Weber kettle 22 for outdoor grilling during the week. during a lot of work night my wife will whip something up using the stove/oven etc. but for my cooking i stick mostly to my WSM and Kettle. With those two there just about isn't anything you can't cook!

I recently converted to the Weber kettle from a gas grill and wow the flavor difference is so much better. the briquettes take a while to get up to temp but its worth the wait if you are thinking about getting another grill definitely look at the Weber kettle. i got the One touch silver and its only $99. add a couple of charcoal baskets for direct/indirect heat control for like 18 and you got an amazing grill that will last a long time. you can even smoke on the kettle so small stuff like chicken or something.

Happy Smoking,

I have a cheap Grill I cook on fairly often , but my main heat source is my Smoker .

I love Smoker , and as Farmer mentioned , fruit and Veggies . Haven't tried Baking , but do Beans Smoked in my CI pot , great flavor...

Have fun and  . . .

I have an old Weber Genesis that I found on a road side about 10 years ago. Put in new burners and some angle iron to account for hear spreaders and it was my first smoker by using one burner and a smoke chip box. Still grill steaks and burgers and occasionally ribs if I want "restaurant style". Had a Char-Broil offset smoker that sucked...bad. Now I have a 22.5 WSM and smoke on it all the time.

i have a 17 yr old Napolean gas grill, that does not receive the love it should but it still gets used.

my main is a large BGE which is about 10 yrs old now.

i use the Nap  when i need a quick  cook  still enjoy it, lookin as old as me at times but still  does the job

before the BGE i used a WSM . sold it  which was a big mistake on my part
