Although this has the meat probe, I strongly suggest you use a therm like the Maverick ET-733 to monitor meat internal temp (and smoker temp) since MES internal therms are not known for their accuracy.

Yes, That is a Gen 1 w/ a window. That could be considered a upgrade if they sent it for free.  

All gen 1 models have the door hinges on the right. all Gen 2 or 2.5's are hinged on the left.

This is MES 30 Gen 1. The only difference is the shape and design of the controller. I'm not sure why MES 30 models with both controller designs are still sold.
