I was bewailing the fact that I don't have a smoker here in the Philippines when a sudden thought occurred to me. I have a gas range in my "dirty" kitchen outside as we don't cook indoors.

Does anyone think it's possible to start a smoke box on a top burner and then put it into the oven which will be set at 225ºF to create a smoker? Just asking.

Why not, I,m thinking maybe use a large stainless steel pot rigged with a rack or two that would sit over the top of one of your burners. You may even get enough heat that you could do the entire smoke on top of the stove. Do a search for mini WSM for some ideas.
