I know this is a smoking forum but I have a grill question. We're about to buy a new grill that has the infrared burner option available. Does anybody have any experience with the infrared heat? I was thinking this may be good for firming up chicken skin and that kind of thing after a good smoke. Any thoughts?

I've only used the infrared burner for keepin things warm on the grill.
Be interested ta see what others use it for.

it will be interesting to see what others comment are here
I am looking to replace my old Weber Genisis and was looking at all the option on different models. I really like the weber summit 670 I think it is.
has the sear burner, smoking burner and all the bells and whistles. I kind of feel loyal to Weber since my Genisis is like almost 20 yrs old and still kicking, and I use it year round couple times a week minimum

As they are all different it's hard to comment but the IR burner should be able to kick out some significant BTUs. Some are located in the back which is good for larger cuts of meat and when using a rotisserie. Some grills have IR burners under the grates. Sometimes a grill will have 2 gas burners and one IR burner under the grate. The IR burner would be used for intense searing for crust development.

So what makes for a jucier chicken, the rotisserie style or slow smoking one? Or are they equally juicy but with differnet flavors?
