Induction cooktop

Our Florida apartment has the pos radiant smooth top range which those that have same know they are very slow to heat and very slow to cool. Temperature control is a wild guess.

A year ago we got a counter top induction unit.

The only downside is they require induction cookware.
We have all induction ready cookware so no brainer to give it a try.
After a 2 week learning curve, I don't believe we have used the glass top range in the past year.

I used to love a gas cook top for the fast heat and temperature control.
This induction unit isn't quite as fast as gas to heat up, but the temperature control and cool down is much superior.

I have a flat bottom wok and it is so easy on the induction unit.

Cooking control is easily changeable from percentage to temperature.
Wife uses percentage only. I use both percentage and temperature.
When making the Bechamel for mac-n-cheese the temperature mode is so nice to avoid breaking the cheese

If we still used the truck camper, I would either bring it along or purchase another unit.
When camping I avoided cooking stinky items inside meaning bacon and fish.

I waited a year to post a review to see how the unit and the users performed.
This is a keeper and we recommend to everyone

Thanks for posting. Our house came with a glass top and we've hated it since day one. Been here 12 years but I'm too cheap to replace it. Planning to move soon anyway.
Is that unit big enough to handle a 12" cast iron pan or a large dutch oven?
I think the only thing we have that wouldn't be compatible is my wife's pressure cooker. I might just have to give one of those a try. I sure do miss our old propane stove.
 
I've been eye balling those for years. My mom offered to give me hers. And I said no thanks. Should have taken her up on that. I think they'd be a good add on for the camper. Since I avoid cooking indoors as much as possible. This would be much quicker and easier than setting up the Coleman 2 burner.
Only problem is that most of the cookware is not magnetic.

Those are great. I went through a couple of them. And when it came time to buy a new range, we got one with an induction cooktop. (LG Studio double-oven with Induction cooktop). Got in December. So far, so good.

They also serve as a good excuse to get more cast iron pots and pans.
 
I got one to use outside a couple years ago. So I don't smell the house up cooking some things.
It holds water temps so well that's what I use for making sausage now!
 
Perfect timing! Just got me a Waring unit last week but have not run it yet. Been waiting a few years to pull the trigger. Loaded up on up various pans to use (carbon steel french) but have already confirmed my Cuisinart All Clad KOs will work. Same as you guys, HATE the mess and smell of cooking inside for things (I cook over HIGH heat). Got schnitzel on deck. Heard these are also fantastic for entertaining as a warming plate.

I cannot find the book to see if it has a maximum size. Our largest pan is 10" and dutch oven is Lodge 5.5 quart and all work great. They make adapter plates for non induction cookware, but I haven't had the need for one.
I've use a Camp Chef 2 burner LP stove for canning back north.

Friend of mine got an induction cooktop and that's what made me get the counter top unit.

I tested it vs my gas top and it heated up a measured amount of water in half the time it took my gasser to boil--4min vs 7 min.

As long as a magnet will stick to the bottom of the pot/pan, it will work.

I had mine in my Amazon cart for like a year and for some reason I got a notice of a $50 coupon off so I jumped.
 
our gas stove failed last April. We bought a LG induction stove. It is fabulous. There is a learning
curve. The cooktop is really fast to heat and I bought an adapter plate for one of our old 16
quart pots that we use to make brunswick stew. (eastern NC style, but no rabbit or squirrel)
The convection oven made a huge difference in cook time too.
The induction stove was expensive, but well worth it.
