WRITE IT ON THE BACK (OR FRONT) OF YOUR ENVELOPES
WE THINK THIS IS A GREAT IDEA - INCLUDING BILLS! You may have heard in the news that a couple of Post offices in Texas have been forced to take down small posters that say 'IN GOD WE TRUST'. The law, they say, is being violated. Anyway, we heard proposed on a radio station show, that we should all write 'IN GOD WE TRUST' on the back of all our mail. After all, that's our National Motto, and ---all the money we use to buy stamps. We think it's a wonderful idea. We must take back our nation from all the people who think that anything that offends them should be removed. If you like this idea, please pass it on and DO IT. The idea of writing or
stamping... 'IN GOD WE TRUST' on our envelopes sounds good to us
SOME PEOPLE ARE HAVING A STAMP MADE TOO... let’s use it as our
signature on e-mails, too It's been reported that 86% of Americans believe in God.. Therefore, we have a very hard time understanding why there's such a mess about having
'In God We Trust!' on our money and having God in the pledge of Allegiance.

Could it be that WE just need to take action and tell the 14% to 'sit down and[/font]
shut up If you agree, pass this on, if not, delete!!! BUT REMEMBER IF YOU DELETE THIS, that's one reason why this world is in the mess we're in now: WE SIT BACK & LET IT HAPPEN!!IN GOD WE TRUST!!!

Like most emails of this nature, the truth is distorted. The posters weren't removed because a law was violated. They came down because it's against USPS policy to display posters and similar things that aren't official post office notices.

Saying it violates the law was just inserted to get folks worked up. That said, I may start writing In God we trust on my envelopes too.

What's great about this nation is that you are free to write whatever you want on your envelopes!

But given how indifferent God seems to be to the goings-on of this planet, I'd rather our public political life put more stock in humans' ability to compromise - and keep God and his hardliners on the sidelines.

I don't know you, and won't pretend to be able to sum you up and file you away in some box based on a single post in a Barbeque forum.

That said. Is God really indifferent? I've know many folks who claim God is indifferent, or uncaring. It seemed to me that those folks dismissed God because they expected God to come to them on their own terms. It seems to me that most religions believe God will help if people turn to HIM. I personally have not read anything to make me think any religion is based on folks calling out "Would you do something???" to God.

That said, I'm not afraid to voice my own opinion...

No one can deny this country seems to be headed down the toilet. Is it a coincidence that it's happening as the minority all of the sudden demand that we take God out of our lives?

Two things to consider. #1 - Our kids can't read the bible in schools...but they can once they go to prison! What's wrong with that picture?

#2 - If someone doesn't subscribe to faith in God, so be it...but why is it that in the last 20 years, these people now demand OUR silence if we choose to be faithful? Not only have they demanded it - but they win on all fronts of the argument, based on what the courts are now saying.
It's a shame...ok - then end!

As I said, you remain free to write whatever you want about God - including IN GOD WE TRUST on the back of an envelope if that makes you feel better about your beliefs. And no one's demanding you not bring whatever spiritual/moral benefits you find there into the public arena.

But right now, there's a county in Georgia that feels teaching kids the Earth is only 6000 years old has equal scientific validity to all the geology and astronomy that indicate an age in the billions of years - and they base it on their literal belief in a story of God. I'd really rather not see that occur - and I know plenty of religious people who are embarrassed by such things.

As to your question: Is God really indifferent? Beautiful things happen in life, and horrible things happen. Often, horrible things happen to good people who are firm believers while wonderful things happen to criminals and despots.

But I only state my opinion. And in this wonderful nation of ours I am free to state that opinion - as others are free to post about the wonders of writing In GOD WE TRUST on the back of envelopes.
