i dont know how you guys live in the snow, its been BELOW 50 for two straight days here and i dont want to even go outside and it might get down to the 30's tonight!!!! how do you put up with it?
Its was -25 this morning when I got up to go to work. Not to mention with the wind it was around -40 something wind chill. Kind of funny just yesterday I told a coworker man its kind of funny how -15 degrees can feel warm when the wind quits blowing. hahaha Its suppose to be up around +18 tomorrow. Its going to be a heat wave. I might have to burn out my first UDS in my tee shirt tomorrow. hahaha
Were are hardy people! That an 30 pounds a extra clothes, some anit freeze an spendin nights snuggled upta momma! Oh how 30 degree's would be nice bout now!
Rick Florida hasn't seen this kinda cold in a long time up around Tallahassee we aren't setting records for lows but we are for the most days in a row below freezing. We are going back into the mid teens again tonight and I'm cold us Florida boys ain't used to this for sure
Well, folks, when the phone jingled this morning at 3AM it was 6 below. In 45 minutes I was strapped into a truck and out hoping to save the motoring public from itself.
We had our cooler weather in the first part of December -36F a few nights in a row.
Looks like February will once again not disappoint us and drop us into the deep freeze for another week or so. January will bring a thaw in a few days for a few days then back into it.
But it is all worth while. Once the weather warms the world is a happier place and people seem to be nicer!
I hear that jerry us Fla boys just ain't built for this cold and specially for this long a period of time. We here in jacksonville (north east) are setting records also for the lowest in some many years to low in past decade. Now we are setting another one for the longest straight days under freezing too. It about 16-18 for the tonight and they said it was gonna snow last night but I didn't feel like climbing out from under the blankets to look and see. We have been 32 or lower now for the past 11 days and I'm DAMN tired of it too.
Its been below freezing here for the last 35 days or so and not going to change anytime soon. We usually just put another log on the fire, cook up some Ribs on the smoker and put on a big ole pot of Dutch's beans and enjoy the warmth.
You need the cold, otherwise sitting in front of a nice cozy fire would be.......well........ Hot and unpleasant!
Well, folks, it is -24 here this morning. Been out to do chores and all my critters seem to be liking it. So there is a plus side to all of this I s'pose!
It's 12F here today. It's been in the single digits here recently
Here's a couple shots of my wanna-be cammoed out deer dog: 5 lb Yorkie.
He can only last about 5 minutes in this stuff even with his cammoes on.
I was actually standing at my smoker with some ribs on.
tell me about it..im in western broward and i work outside..it was a little chilly when i had to climb my first pole this morning....look on the bright side...this is one of the few times a year when you can smoke cheese without a problem. its also an excuse to wear pants
I suppose it's all relative to what you're used to. Or maybe you southerners are just soft.
I couldn't get over the announcers at the Orange Bowl talking about how cold it was there and how would the teams react to the cold weather. It was like 50 at game time there. It was like 2 here. Trust me, the 50 degree weather didn't hurt the Hawkeyes at all. Hell they were sweatin' And I was hearing stories of folks from Iowa running all over South Beach in shorts and flip flops. Ok, even I think that's a little over the top. But mentally, they were in the tropics compared to what they'd left up here.
I just hope the farmers crops don't get destroyed.
I'm with you guys from Florida. Too blasted cold here in Houston the last few days. Below freezing at night. But spring is on the way, supposed to be in the 60's in a few days.
I did my time in the frozen north - 10 years working in western Chicago suberbs. By the time I got on enough stuff to keep warm, I had to get a pipe take a leak.
I'll take the heat anyday. I can always find a cold beer and a swimming pool in Houston!
Sorry but I'm not too concerned about the people, they can put coats on. It's the citrus fruit farmers that are goin to get hammered. It's goin to be an expensive year for southern fruits (Huh, that statement just doesn't sound right). Let me try that again: It's goin to be an expensive year for the southern fruit crops. (I think that's better).
