you shouldn't have to wait anymore... go to your profile.. click on "edit account details" then scroll down to where it says "preferred editor type" and chose "BB Code Editor" if not chosen already...

OCS4, insulation is a consideration, but it is up to you.

I think that what people are saying is that due to the thin walls of the barrels any sort of wind, rain, etc. COULD drastically affect your cooking.

Firebrick would be a great heat sink, and can help to moderate, but add weight quickly.  Wool insulation is pricey.

I've done chili cook offs and cooks that were in wind, rain, etc. and they are terribly frustrating.

The welding blankets can be added on, or taken off when conditions are beautiful.

I use tarps and tarp clips as wind breaks and those work fine.  I have even driven rebar into the ground put PVC pipe on as vertical supports and then placed black trash bags ove them to act as a fence.

Consider what is best for YOU, and go for it!   You'll be fine, keep up the good work!

Thank you I will def consider everything youve said! thanks for the support and dont be shy in putting in any advice once the new pics upload for the project

Your pics should be up now Owl. I am still learning my way around my new job.

That looks good and I think it will work. For the most part, that is what popped into my head initially.

Saw them as I was replying, I LIKE IT!  Weight at the far left and right might be a problem if no support.  I think the three vertical dampers would be big help. But I would think the experts would be better about that than little ole me.

Yah im gonna make a congruent triangle of sorts with the dampers, that should create good stability

Frosty is right. There will need to be some supports but I didn't want to clutter things up with that.
