A while back I picked up a SS #32 grinder for a good price from an online source. I picked up a few hardware items and hooked up a motor to it and budabing we're in binness.

After about the third time using it I snapped off that stud that holds the blade. I went to a machinist buddy to have it fixed and he made me a new stud fron an HSLA steel that wont break anymore. Next time I used it I fried my motor.

I talked to a few guys who keyed me in on either a 1/3 or 1/2 hp motor and what I'd need to get squared away. Well,,, I must have that Tim Taylor disease cuz well,,,I hooked myself up witha 3/4 hp that seems way too big for what my grinder will handle now...

I think if it had wings it'd friggin fly.

I think a small block Chevy would look good hooked up to that. he he he he he he.

MORE POWER! If you start trippin' breakers, we know you have gone all Tim Taylor on us.

Add in a nitrous system then call up Bob Vila. You could race him round the block or till one of you is in the ambulance, which ever comes first.

Why would you say it is too big? Is the rpm too fast?
3/4 hp on a #32 grinder I think would be perfect.

It does seem to turn fast to me. The 1" pulley I ordered ended up being for a 1/2" shaft rather than 5/8" (what I needed) when it arrived. I picked up a different pulley 1 1/2" and I'm hoping when I have the return 1" pulley it will tone down a bit.

The motor is a 1725 rpm. and the grinder sheave is 11 3/4". I can still return the sheave for a size up to 15" but then I have to begin raising the feet on the platform.

I'm sure the Navy has a small Sub that you could hook up to it ;)
