there isn't a bag of lump to be found in all of Montreal, so I'm thinking about heading south, I'm about an hour from platsburge new york anybody know a place there or near where I can stock up for the rest of the winter? I want to get at least 10 bags or so, hope the duty back into canada doesn't put me in the poor house

Don, there is a Lowe's in Plattsburgh, NY. I would think that they'd have charcoal. Unfortunately, if it's like it is here, they'll only have Cowboy brand in the lump. It may get you by for today though. Good luck!!

I buy all my maple leaf hardwood lump charcoal at home depot, as a matter of fact I bought the last 10 bags at 13.99 at the St-Hubert store back in November, the thing is they don`t restock till the spring as most people don`t try to make BBQs in the middle of a quebec winter lol

as for your question I went to another home depot on the south shore in brossard last week and they were sold out so I had the salesman do a computer stock check at the other stores in the area and to my horror I was informed that all the stores across Quebec were sold out :-(

I am going to try to get over to new york next weekend, if not then the week after I`ll be makeing a buisness trip to Ottawa and since I`m driving I`ll be able to make a couple of stops on the way to look in the canadian tire in Hawksbury and also around the Ottawa area and orleans maybe even gateneau if I have the time.

I am on a quest lololol

The Lowes in Plattsburgh usually has Cowboy brand lump along with various briquettes. I have not been there recently as it's a 1 hour drive. I don't know if you can get a phone number for that store from Lowes website to call ahead to check. I have also purchased Wicked Good lump on the net. It's a bit pricey, and I don't know if they would ship to Montreal.

Good luck. Hope this helps!

Take care, have fun, and do good!

Regards,

Meowey

I would tell the manager at your usual store to special order you some, 6 bags or more. They special order stuff all the time, cabinets, doors, hardware, ect. I would also ask him if he thinks it may be a good idea to stock some since ALL the stores seem to be mysteriously out of stock! Must be someone is buying the stuff!
