Went up to Lowe's yesterday to get some childproofing and electrical materials (different projects, I should note) and this little guy caught my eye: Char-Broil Performance 2.

A number of smoking recipes I've been wanting to try (or do try, with modified steps) have instructions or suggestions to finish on the grill, so I had been thinking of getting one. Problem is I didn't want just a cheapo built one that will rust out, and I also didn't want to spend $500+ on a high quality but huge 6-burner grill that is total overkill. Enter this grill - high quality build but at a reasonable price. The compromise is on size - this is smaller than most grills, however since my smoker will still be doing the heavy lifting for any big volume of cooking a smaller size grill is just fine. It's got plenty of room to finish off a couple of racks of ribs, a few dozen wings, or to throw on a few steaks at a higher temp than my smoker can hit in grill configuration.

Tempted, I let my rational brain overrule my impulse brain and left with only my intended purchases. But after bringing it up with the wife she was totally onboard and encouraged me to go back and get it. I did some additional research and read a bunch of reviews, and with near unanimous high marks I decided to pull the trigger.

So, back to Lowe's I went and bought the grill. Will be assembling it tonight!

That grill should serve you well. My Weber two burner has proven to be quite large enough for us.

Congratulations on the new gasser - looks like a nice one.

Chris
