sMy Thai Basil seeds are getting old but still gladly share with you.
I've got a big bag of mung bean seed to share as well.

The nice thing about Thai basil as it holds its original flavor so well after drying.
Doesn't get that "medicine" flavor that Chef Jimmy despised from dried Italian basil.
I ordered these. Hopefully what I wanted. Also ordered Mung beans.

Thai Basil

So I starting one of my units back up. Really mainly wanting Thai Basil for my Pho. Looked around for some Thai Basil plants and could not find any. Not sure why they dont offer it? Anyhow really hard to keep herbs going in our Texas heat in summer and decided to just do inside. Of course my grow baskets are smaller than the others. I found some that I hope going to fit. They 1.5" instead of the 1.7" normal. Trying to decide what to grow other than the Thai basil. I might throw a sweet Basil in there. Thinking maybe a dill which I really dont use much? Would not mind some sage for sausage but in the past it really did not have much flavor. Also got a Bean Sprout kit using the mason jars. The bean sprouts from the store been pretty nasty.
Well crap. The grow basket tops are smaller but not the rest of it. I can clip off the tabs around the sides and make them fit. They wont be as sturdy but I guess will work. I hate when company makes special sized stuff and then dont make replacements! I could use my other unit but this will hold more water and light goes higher.

Edit: Ended up finding some original baskets in my stash. There are 1.5" with no tabs. Here is what I planted. I dont expect much from parsley or cilantro but thought give another shot. I dropped a cilantro seed in water but hopefully die off. Did not want to take lid off.

Was wondering how you grow your Mung Beans? I got the mason jar kit. They are sprouting now. From what I read about the beans I got they are fairly thin. Sounds like Yupik brand are bigger. Do you cut the roots off? I would think doing the mason jar method this would be hard to do. This will get my started anyhow. The regular basil sprouted today. Hopefully the Thai right behind it.

My home sprouted are never as juicy as the commercial. But the flavor is still there.

Here is a previous batch. They were not as thick as store bought but tasty. They didn't really have much roots, it could be the growing method.

This one is radish, alfalfa and broccoli.

Here are the current sprouts. Day four, paper towel removed and water topped off to the screen level. I use screen door material because some of the seeds are so tiny they would just fall thru the plastic screen below them. I toss it when done and cut some fresh for the next batch.

Mung beans

The rest. the smaller they are the longer it takes them to start.

They might look clumsy in the pics but they somehow will find their way and be upright with the small roots in the water in the next day or two.

A difference this time is I am growing them under the LED grow lights. Previously I had grown them in the shade. I wanna see which way is better.

I thought about going that way but was thinking I dont need to grow that much at a time and was thinking the jar would be better for smaller amount. I might have to change. Will see how the jars work.

I would love to grow these but having a great Asian market 5 minutes from me that carry them fresh every day is just too easy.

Well my first attempt at Bean Sprouts in a jar. Wish they were thicker but nice crunch and taste good. Thai basil just getting started in hydroponic garden. Be ready for some Pho hopefully in another month.

Day 7 and they are growing well.

Being under direct light the bean sprouts are definitely darker with much larger leaves. I have always grown them in the dark but wanted to see what would happen in the light.
