I started in havc when I was 21, at 30 started my own hvac company and at 45 sold that company and was able to retire. There is money to be made in hvac. If I have any advice for you it is, take in as much education, regarding this industry, as possible throughout your carrier. This should include, trade schools, hvac specific seminars and trade shows. Remember, there are people out there that know way more then we do, find them, hang with them and learn. Stay on the cutting edge of the industry, it will pay off.

I realize this topic is old, but attending an HVAC school sounds like a great idea if you are interested. I personally work in HVAC, and I find it quite rewarding. The best part is the hands-on nature of the job – you get to troubleshoot, fix systems, and see immediate results. As for wages, it can vary depending on your location and experience, but HVAC service techs can make a decent income. You should also get a license because to work legally in the United States a Plumber must become licensed. So, if it appeals to you and you enjoy getting your hands dirty, go for it!

yeah I know this is old, I would say I probably should have taken the offer from FIL to get into the NYC electrical union when I graduated college 35 years ago. We had many family members in the union all the way to the top.

MY FIL came home at the age of 62 and said "I will make the same now wether I go to work or retire) He retired and 20 years later he is still drawing an $80K plus pension with ridiculous medical and bounces back and forth from Boca Raton, FL and here in NY.

I wonder how it worked out for the OP. Hopefully he is ok as he hasn’t been on since 2011.
