I am considering getting a Hunsaker barrel smoker as an addition to my collection.

Can you use a pit controller on this unit?

If you own one, what do you think the pros and cons of this unit are?

Thanks..... JC :emoji_cat:

Unique sliding foot control air intake system controls the temperature inside the smoker..

They don't show the air inlet system.... That drives me away from purchasing one..

What kind of barrel smoker seems to work best for you?

Any replies are helpful..

Std. barrel.. Full port 1/2" ball valves for inlet air..

Are the UDS kits worth taking a look at? O looked at the big papa kits but they didn't fit my needs.

I've had a Hunsaker for a few months now and I love it. You don't need a pit controller because it holds real steady temps. I smoked three butts overnight in it and I felt comfortable enough to go to sleep while it cooked. I'd say that the pros are the lid hinge, portability, steady temps, and the fact that it comes with everything you need to cook so you don't have to order extra stuff.

The only con I hear people complain about is the fact that the intake is in the bottom of the barrel so you need to put a pan under it to catch the grease. I don't mind this because I think it makes it easier to clean since you don't have to turn the barrel upside down.

Shipping was free until recently, but now there is a $95 flat rate shipping fee. However, now that they have to charge for shipping they went ahead and included a hanging rack with every order which would normally cost you $50. Let me know if you have any other questions.
