Hello All,

It looks like I should have met you all sooner.

Looks like a lot to learn from you all. Internet Forum Boards are not new to me for I use them for some other hobby with old cars, CB radios and some others. Dont know why I did not think to check out the meat smoking hobby boards sooner.

I live in Central California so the Santa Maria style grilling is popular here.

I do have a Santa Maria style grill. I ventured off to one of the electric Faberware electric rotisserie a while back. That got me to convert my Santa Maria style grill to fold over out of the way and rig up a battery powered rotisserie on that for some wood fired rotisserie cooked chickens. From there I wanted to go bigger so I built this full size unit. Complete with a 12volt powered rotisserie running a windsheild wiper motor from a 95 Saturn along with a 10:1 sprocket reduction it spins at a 5 rpm rate.

Then I wanted to get off to smoking so Now I just built this unit shown below and have used it twice.

Still need to mount some thermometers. I just have the one at the top close to the exhaust and believe it is reading much cooler than at the rack level.? I kinda just winged it on my designs. Now that I have lurked around on here. I see some much better.

Both times I used it my thermometer read 200 deg. The food cooked way to fast, thats why I think I need more thermometers. This unit is made from 20" Pipe with a 5" exhaust and about a 4 sq. in intake. I'm guessing I need to close the exhaust down some to get the heat to evenly distribute top to bottom??

Anyway enough for now for a simple intro.

See Ya
