How to find a MES 40 gen 1?

Is there a place to purchase a MES gen 1 ? Are the new 40" mes able to be pid upgraded? Anything else I should know? I have an old 30" stainless mes but want more length for sausage...also what wattage do the new mes 40 smokers element use? Ty

Lot of people luck out and find an orphan MES on the curb or cheap on FB
Not a clue on MES. I have a Big Chief with a burned out element.

Yes . Some it's as easy as rearranging the stock plug connections in the harness .

I have been looking for one on Craig's List. Looking under the location of Pittsburgh (where I live) and keep getting results from Seattle, York, England, Buffalo, etc. Apparently people in my area don't want to part with them. I would get a recent generation but I don't trust their reliability.

Think of it as you're buying the insulated cabinet . Bypass the guts and hook up the controller .
