Just got a phone call from a lady, shes wanting to have a bbq comp, meat to be donated to the "walk for the cure/Breast cancer awareness" so they can sell it at a event. they would like to have Pulled pork, brisket, chicken ,and possibly ribs. I told her i would do what ever they need depending on how many others cook also, i figured we could each do 2 butts,2 briskets and 12 hind quarters, ribs?. she has 10 contacts now that she is going to call and spark some interest in this, it's still in the thinking stage for next April.

Do you think 2 butts,2briskets, and a dozen hind quarters would be enough to donate? I'm willing to donate more, will need to see how many people will cook in it. and she said they will do some kind of a judging on it and give a trophy, i told her i wasn't to worried about the comp end, it's a good cause.

if it's a "first friday thing" i've donated to auction me doing a fishing trip, boat detail, and a home done cook out(separate prizes)- it's a good cause- just check it out first. and yeah- time,food,labor...- thats more than enough.

Any amount you put forward will be appreciated. Do what you are personally comfortable with. The key here is that you are DOING something.

I hope this helps!

Cheers!

This lady that called is a sister to one of my customers wife's, and it's the real deal. they have a big event every year and have food vender's come in and they don't donate much she said. she said that all we have to do is cook and they will have volunteers do the prep and serve.By haveing more people volunteer their time they could raise more money for the cause and by eliminateing the vender's all together.
